Älgö Blomstrar
Embracing the vision of vibrant and resilient communities rooted in their local environment.
Testing new ways for community led regenerative food systems in a decentralised setting while supporting the local biodiversity.
Cultivating Locally and Flourishing Together
Älgö Blomstrar, or “Älgö Blooms” in English, aims to revitalise the relationship between people and nature on Älgö -an island in the Baltic archipelago with less than 2000 inhabitants, yet located only 20 kilometres from capital Stockholm.
At the heart of Älgö Blomstrar lies the cultivation of locally sourced produce. The aim is to pioneer and test new ways for growing natural abundance in a local context by exploring regenerative food systems in a decentralised setting as well as integrated ways for strengthening the local biodiversity, whilst building community preparedness bottom up.
Älgö Blomstrar is intended to serve as an inspiration and practical roadmap for others to learn from, and the activities are designed to nurture a sense of togetherness to support both a socially and ecologically vibrant community.
